HR Excellence In Research AwardHuman Resources Strategy For Researchers
The June 17, 2019
On June 17 2019, Toulouse INP was granted the "HR Excellence in Research Award" by the European Commission for the implementation of its Human Resources Strategy for Researchers.
The successful implementation of an HR Strategy for Researchers -also known as HRS4R- is awarded by the European Commission. This strategy is based on the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and a Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers of which Toulouse INP has been a signatory since 2017. The principles of the Charter specify the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of researchers as well as of employers and/or funders of researchers. The Code is a general principles and requirements that should be followed by employers and/or funders when appointing or recruiting researchers.
Toulouse INP received this Award, thus underlining the ambition and the current quality of its human resources policy towards teacher-researchers, research engineers, doctoral students and temporary teaching and research associates (ATER). .
This Award allows Toulouse INP to highlight the place that Toulouse INP holds in the european research area and its commitment to continually improve its visibility within the international scientific community.
To structure its HRS4R strategy, the institution chose to work in project mode, relying on a steering committee and sub-working groups. Over 40 people worked on Toulouse INP’s initial assessment by analysing the institution's internal practices with regard to the 40 principles of the Charter and Code. This work has led Toulouse INP to roll out a plan comprising 51 actions that respond to identified improvement needs.
Obtaining this label meets the following objectives:
- Compliance with Article 32 of the Horizon 2020 Annotated Grant Agreement that requires beneficiaries to take measures to implement the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers;
- Development of cross-sectoral collaboration between laboratories / Toulouse INP’s Engineering Schools / Toulouse INP’s Central Services;
- Support Toulouse INP's policy of excellence in the field of research;
- Strengthen Toulouse INP’s international reach and increase its attractiveness to researchers.
The label obtained, Toulouse INP must continue the work undertaken and will have to carry out an interim assessment in June 2021 which will be transmitted to the European Commission. In 2024, an audit will lead, or not, to the renewal of the label for 3 years, on the basis of a new file.
